What's the difference?

Now that you've come this far in making the healthy decision to switch to electronic cigarettes, there are some things you need to be aware of in order to make an informed and successful purchase of e-cig products the first time.

Not all electronic cigarettes are created equal, and not all nicotine juice tastes good. Not all batteries are the same, and there is quite a difference between 'manual' batteries and 'automatic' batteries as well as battery power / useful life of a charged battery. So with these important topics in mind, here are some facts and other information that will help you differentiate between EVOTM and other e-cigarettes on the market.

Battery Power

The power for electronic cigarettes is provided by lithium ion batteries which enable a lot of power in a very small, light weight and rechargeable package. The power capacity of a lithium ion battery is measured and displayed as the mAH rating or mill ampere hour. The higher the mAH rating, the longer lasting the battery. Battery capacity (aka battery power) is important to you because it determines the length of time the battery will supply power before needing to be recharged.

100mm length batteries have 173mAH of power capacity. These batteries have a much shorter life span than larger batteries before they need to be recharged. Expect 4-5 hours of vaping before needing to recharge.  Also consider that If you only have 1 battery, you won't be vaping while your battery is charging back up. Be ready to wait at least an hour for this battery to recharge.

110mm length batteries (such as EVOTM offers in both the Basic and Premium Kits) are more powerful than the 100mm type and carry a capacity rating of 250mAH. These batteries will last 45% longer than the 100mm 173mAH style and so you get to 'vape' nearly 50% longer before needing to recharge.  As reformed smokers ourselves, we recommend nothing less than at least a 250 mAH battery.

V-GO batteries are the power house of the e-cigarette world, and it's easy to tell the difference at a glance. V-GO batteries are physically quite a bit thicker and have a 900mAH rating. These batteries will easily go 36-40 hours and beyond depending on your style of 'vaping. We originally carried 650mAH V-GO batteries and got over 30 hours of vaping with them, but changed to the 900mAH for people who plan to vape constantly and have no time for or -access to- a power outlet for charging. I personally prefer the V-GO and it's what I use because it holds a charge for such a long time and I'm always on the go.

Manual -vs- Automatic style batteries.

There are 2 versions of batteries found on all e-cigarettes, there are manual operated and automatic operated batteries.  Most e-cigarette brands offer automatic batteries, which have a microchip built into the body of the battery.  As you draw into the cartridge the microchip is activated and starts the atomization of the nicotine solution thus creating the vapor.  Automatic batteries typically work great for a day and even up to a week or so before the microchip begins to not detect your draw, forcing you to suck harder and longer before successfully taking a draw from the cigarette.  It may even require taking 2-3 draws or even blowing back in to the battery before the microchip wakes up and starts vaporizing.  EVOTM does not sell or carry automatic style batteries.

The Manual style battery is what 99% of our users prefer, especially after they have used an automatic for any length of time. The manual battery has a very small button that when pressed, starts the battery output and the vapor starts. The manual battery allows the user to 'smoke' more naturally and is definitely more satisfying since the user is not forced to suck into the battery at all, but rather take normal relaxed draws from the device.  All of the batteries we offer are now manual only because of the intermittent activation problems with the automatic style.

2 piece electronic cigarettes -vs- the old 3 piece systems.

There are significant differences between 3 part electronic cigarettes and the new improved 2 piece system that we carry.

The older 3-part system consists of a battery, a separate atomizer and a filter tip cartridge.  The basic function is the same, the battery activates the atomizer which in turn converts the nicotine solution into vapor.  However, the separate atomizer and cartridge of this design creates problems.  If you choose the 3-part design, expect the atomizer performance to degrade over time and need replaced after 2-3 weeks of daily use.  Also expect to clean the atomizer regularly as they are prone to growing bacteria near the heating element, which of course is then inhaled by the user.

Secondly, the 3 part design does not have an enclosed cartridge, but rather a filter tip cartridge.  The problem with the filter tip cartridge is that there is nothing to keep the nicotine solution from leaking out into your pocket or onto your skin.  Nicotine in itself can be fatal in large doses and since nicotine can be absorbed through the skin it is advised that any leaking cartridges should be replaced and any skin in contact with nicotine should be washed with soap and water immediately.  While the 3-part system was a great break through in pioneering the first electronic cigarette, the system has been refined to fix the shortcomings of the initial design.

EVOTM does not carry any 3-part e-cigarette systems!

The new improved 2 part system (such as the EVOTM Vapor system) eliminates leaking entirely with the newly designed 'cartomizer'. The cartomizer combines both the cartridge and the atomizer in a single replaceable piece!  This new design eliminates leaks, greatly reduces the chance for bacterial growth and gives the e-cigarette a more reliable and economical atomizer. Now when you use up and throw away your cartomizer and get a fresh one, you also are getting a fresh new atomizer.  Because the atomizer is built into the cartridge for more consistent performance over the life of the cartomizer, you'll get more consistent vapor and have less things to keep track of, replace, or that can fail at an inopportune time.  Packaging of cartomizers is also important to reduce any chance for bacterial or other contamination, which is why all EVOTM cartomizers are sealed with rubber tips on both ends and then factory sealed in blister packs.

Now, once you decide on a brand and buy the e-cigarette, there are other factors that come into play as well.

      1. Timely shipments. How quick did your supplier fill and ship your order? If the supplier you chose is slow to ship, or back orders often, you will be left in a vulnerable position. Picture this scenario: Your running out of cartomizers and your order still hasn't shipped. This is the #1 reason for slipping back into smoking analog cigarettes: a supplier who isn't responsive consistently.

      2. Flavor. There are huge differences in the flavor as well as the vapor production between different suppliers. If the flavor isn't good, you won't stick with it. Some electronic cigarette 'carts' are both harsh to inhale and have poor vapor quality. Some flavors we have tried from other vendors INCLUDING aftermarket juice mfg's are just plain lousy. We have researched this very thoroughly and are offering only the best flavors and vapor producing juice.

Once you try our cartomizers or juice, you'll see what I mean. As 'reformed smokers' ourselves, we understand completely what it takes to successfully step away from analog cigarettes and step into electronic cigarettes and be completely satisfied.

In summary, switching from analog cigarettes to electronic cigarettes can be a very rewarding experience for you, as it has been for myself and my crew here at Now smoking bans don't matter; we aren't 'smoking'. No more smells, no more ash, and of course: no more tobacco!
